Many of our housing clients are so much more than housing, and now we are too.

Building on our commitment to support socially focused organisations to innovate and change, we’ve fully integrated the expertise of Oaks Consultancy into our team, now known as Altair Community Impact, Fundraising and Strategy.

Oaks has long been a valuable sister company and now we have merged under one brand. We are still offering the in-depth knowledge that we know our customers value most, but now with a wider breadth of skills and services.

The work we do continues, supporting organisations that make a difference to people’s lives and the places they live. Our people have direct experience of – and a passion for – housing, local authorities, charities, sports bodies, and educational institutions, across the UK and internationally.

Through industry expertise and a deep understanding of the fast-paced landscape in which our clients operate, we combine strategic insights and practical experience to provide expert support to clients, empowering them to deliver more positive impact.

Across corporate finance and treasury, development and regeneration, governance, asset management, people and HR, community impact, transformation, technology and more, we curate a team of experts to meet your challenge and bring positive change.

Michael Appleby, Managing Director, Altair Consulting highlights the opportunities realised by uniting the two teams:

‘Altair and Oaks have always focused on helping our clients to grow, increase efficiencies and remain resilient. And by bringing the two companies under a single Altair brand, we are doing the same for ourselves. This means clients can access a wider range of expertise under one roof, streamlining their service experience. The change broadens the services and insight we are able to provide in all sectors, and supports increased collaboration and cross-working, in a simple and easy-to-understand approach.

It is great to officially welcome the team into Altair, and we look forward to further growth across more services and sectors, to build on our track record in supporting socially focused organisations to make a positive impact’.

Emma Atkins, Director of Sport commented:

Oaks has a legacy of a strong track record in sport and sport for development, and have always taken pride in supporting both national associations, federations and governing bodies who are changing the world through sport; as well as organisations across the globe who use sport as a vehicle to overcome countless societal challenges: providing a positive environment to tackle inequality, develop life skills and bridge divides. Joining Altair is an exciting opportunity to expand the small part we play in supporting these organisations on their missions, and aligns with our mission of creating a better, more sustainable and socially responsible world’.

Paul Findlay, Director of Charities commented on the extended offer to the charity sector:

Coming together with the Altair team provides greater expertise to help our charity clients achieve extraordinary results. Our deep understanding of charity professionals’ unique challenges remains. And we are now working more closely with colleagues from other sectors to bring additional insight and services in governance, HR, procurement and more’.

Dan Wilson, Director of Education commented:

Schools, Multi-Academy Trusts, and Universities need to know their efforts are focused in the right place, with passionate people and efficient processes to remain resilient and ensure their young people continue to succeed. This requires successfully securing funding, executing strategic projects, and being able to recruit and retain the right staff. Uniting with Altair which includes Corporate Treasury and Finance Services, enables us to build on our track record of supporting clients in the education sector to optimise their assets, achieve financial sustainability and realise their aspirations. I’m delighted to be part of the next phase of Altair’s growth’.

The integration and growing offer puts Altair in the best place to support clients with changing challenges and opportunities. Access to more people, more services and more tools, but retaining the unique and deep understanding of the sectors we work in, enabling our clients to make a positive impact.

Details of the merger

Oaks joined the Aquila Services Group in 2019 alongside Altair Advisory and Consultancy Services Ltd, established in 2011,and both consultancies share the Group’s commitment to creating a better, more sustainable and socially responsible world.

Altair and Oaks provide a range of complementary services which benefit each other’s existing clients. Altair’s wide range of services are already being employed in the education and charity sectors, particularly in Finance and Treasury, and this merger provides clarity and simplicity within all the markets we operate to support future growth. Oaks’ community impact strategy and fundraising work has significant potential within the social housing sector, and we have been successfully collaborating on projects for some time. This merger is the natural next step and provides more opportunities for employees and clients.

Bringing the two together under a single brand is an exciting next stage in the growth of the business.
