Delivering affordability through Community led Housing
Helping a Community Land Trust pursue a forthcoming, sustainable and affordable residential development in Camden.
After assisting NW3 Community Land Trust (NW3 CLT) with matters of finance, viability and governance, Altair were appointed as the CLT’s Project Manager to help operationalise the organisation, acquire a site and progress plans for a residential development.
Alongside site-specific activities, Altair have worked extensively to develop the CLT’s capacity and strengthen its operations. This has involved appointing an architect through a thorough community consultation process, liaising with funders on possible funding options and producing a development strategy. Altair have also undertaken research for NW3 CLT into best practice in the community-led housing sector, particularly regarding affordability, tenure and delivery approaches. Altair have worked extensively with stakeholders on how to maximise the sustainability of the development, utilising the in-house sustainability expertise of the CLT.
Altair are assisting NW3 with their first project to be delivered which is currently in design phase. Planning submission is forecast Q3 2021.
