Paradigm Housing Group owns and manages more than 15,000 homes and we are committed to our core purpose of providing good affordable homes for those who need them. We employ the best and most committed people to work together to achieve this. With their skills and efforts, we have grown over 30 years to become one of the largest social housing providers in the counties of Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. Our principal activities are:
- providing affordable housing for rent
- delivering low-cost home ownership (mainly shared ownership)
- offering temporary or permanent housing solutions to address homelessness issues
As a charity, all the money we make goes into building new homes and providing services for residents. Our turnover is around £130m and with a substantial development and sales programme, we are making the most of our many opportunities in a challenging but rewarding environment. We are a regulated entity which is fully compliant and have issued a public bond on the back of a strong credit rating, underscoring our solid financial health. We employ around 480 people. In our 2020 survey we achieved Best Companies “One Star” status reflecting “very good” levels of employee engagement.
We have a new Vision and Corporate Plan as well as an ambitious growth and investment programme. We completed 399 new affordable homes worth £101m in 2019/20. We also invested £25.8m in repairing and improving our existing homes, with a continued systematic focus on the health and safety of our residents, including the key area of fire safety, and have embarked on the considerable challenge of achieving net zero carbon by 2050.
We have a Resident Services Panel, and this plays an important role in examining and scrutinising customer facing areas of our service and working with us in order to deliver excellence. We also have a range of other customer engagement channels and feedback mechanisms, driving further improvement to our services.
The Foundation Committee regularly considers the priorities and resources we make available through our grants programme, identifying other organisations (public, voluntary, community and private sector), with whom we might work to provide support to vulnerable residents.
As part of our Board succession plan and our new vision, we are seeking to recruit two new Board Members to help drive forward our increased focus on providing excellent service for our customers and on achieving our safety and sustainability goals.
The culture of the Board is supportive and collegiate. It is a friendly environment that provides the opportunity to grow as well as contribute. In addition to the usual broad range of experience and skills, we are looking for the following expertise:
- Strategic asset management
- Creating customer centric cultures and services
Non-executive experience or knowledge of the social housing sector isn’t necessary for either role as a comprehensive induction programme is provided. We will tailor the induction programme to your current knowledge and experience and provide additional support if this is your first non-executive role.
We are particularly keen to have a Board that includes people from a range of backgrounds and different life experiences. In return, Board Members will receive learning and development opportunities within a team of interesting people who have a wide range of knowledge and skills to share.
Ideally, we anticipate our new Board Members attending their first Board Meeting on 22 September as well as the Annual Board Conference on 23 September.
The closing date is 10:00am Monday 9 August 2021.
