Magna Board Chair and Board Member (Finance and Treasury)

Help Shape the Future of Magna Housing

About the role

Magna Housing is an ambitious, forward-thinking housing association serving customers across Dorset and Somerset. We provide more than 9,000 homes and a wide range of housing services to over 20,000 people. With a turnover of around £60 million and more than 500 colleagues, we’re large enough to influence, yet small enough to care. Our vision is simple: creating great homes together.

We’re delivering our ambitious Better Futures strategy, creating better futures for our customers, communities, colleagues, partners and the planet. Over the next five years, we will continue to invest in our existing homes while delivering up to 1,500 new affordable homes across our communities.
As we continue this journey, we’re seeking an exceptional Chair of the Board and a Board Member (Finance and Treasury) to help provide strategic leadership, effective governance and constructive challenge as we deliver our vision and respond to an evolving regulatory and financial landscape.

A pivotal time to join

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to an organisation with a clear sense of purpose and ambition. Magna has undergone significant transformation over recent years and is now focused on delivering the next phase of its Better Futures strategy, strengthening governance, investing in homes and communities, embracing digital innovation and ensuring long-term sustainability.

The opportunities

Chair of the Board

We’re seeking an experienced Chair to provide strategic leadership to our Board and organisation, ensuring effective governance, long-term sustainability and successful delivery of our strategy. You’ll bring significant Board Chair experience, strong governance and regulatory credibility, strategic leadership and a collaborative, values-led approach. You’ll be committed to building an inclusive, high-performing Board and ensuring customers remain at the heart of decision-making.

Board Member (Finance and Treasury)

We’re also looking to appoint a Board Member with substantial finance and treasury expertise to strengthen our strategic financial oversight and governance. You’ll bring senior-level experience in finance, treasury, audit or investment, Board or non-executive experience, and a strong understanding of governance, risk and assurance. Experience within social housing or another regulated sector would be welcomed.

Why Magna?

At Magna, our values shape everything we do. We’re committed to creating an inclusive organisation where diversity of thought is welcomed and where collaboration, openness and innovation support better decision-making. We welcome applications from experienced leaders within housing and from those who can bring transferable skills and perspectives from other regulated sectors, provided they share our commitment to our vision, mission and values.
