About the role

Length of term – Up to two three-year terms

Renumeration – £6,400 per annum plus reasonable expenses

Time commitment – 2 days a month

Location – Lovell House, Manchester

We seek to appoint at least one board member who is passionate about the importance of the environment and a broader approach to sustainability, someone with a view on the strategic role an organisation such as One Manchester can play to positively impact the challenges facing communities on a micro and macro level.

You don’t need previous experience working in the sector or being a board member, but you do need a passion for seeking new ways of doing things.

About Us:

One Manchester plays a hugely important role in the social and economic landscape of Greater Manchester. We own and manage over 12,000 homes in central, south, and east Manchester. Our financial turnover exceeds £66m, with housing assets valued at over £387.5m. Notable investments were made last year in building safety. Looking ahead, we’ve earmarked around £250m for developing 2,400 new affordable homes by 2025/26. Our mission is to create sustainable, affordable, and secure properties for local residents. We’re committed to improving the environmental efficiency of both new and existing homes through ongoing maintenance, technological upgrades, and energy-efficient enhancements.

Your Role:

As a Board Member, your role is vital in guiding our organisation towards its goals. Your unique expertise will enrich our mission of providing safe, decent, and affordable housing in Manchester.

You will have demonstrable knowledge and expertise in the following areas:

  • Delivering environmental and, sustainability strategies
  • Strong customer focus
  • Previous experience of working within a regulated industry
  • Socio economic understanding of Greater Manchester.

Whilst we are ideally seeking an experienced Non-Executive Director it is not essential and we provide an in-depth induction and are developing a buddying programme for all new Board Members.

    6. Tell us about a time you have undertaken consultation in preparing a strategy, how did you go about hearing the customer’s voice? What was your approach and what was the outcome?
