Chair of RHA Board

Would you like to play a key role in leading an organisation with great ambitions for the future, supporting and improving the lives of the people of Rhondda Cynon Taf? Remuneration for this role is £6,500 per annum.

About the role

RHA Wales is a registered social landlord and a community benefit society, regulated by the Welsh Government with over 40 years of experience providing a range of services for over 3,000 people.

We own and manage over 1800 homes and employ over 80 staff. We offer a range of high-quality management and support services which ensure that our tenants have the best possible opportunities to enjoy their homes and engage in their communities.

We work closely with partners and the local authority to ensure we provide support for preventing homelessness and delivering much needed new homes across the borough. With a turnover exceeding £10 million and an active new build programme which delivers a minimum of 50 new homes per annum and ambitions to do more.

We are also embarking on a £15 million regeneration project in Tonypandy and are committed to improving the communities we serve. We encourage innovation and significantly value the contribution of our staff, tenants and volunteers in all that we do.

Our Chair’s term of office comes to an end soon and we are looking for an individual to lead the Board, working closely with the chief executive and his team to take us on this exciting journey. Knowledge of the housing sector is not necessary but you will have significant experience at board level and a strong focus on strategy and policy development, good governance, assurance and be able to fulfil a wider ambassadorial role. You may also have specific expertise to benefit our core business, in an area such as governance, strategy development, public policy particularly around health and social care, finance, commercial or business transformation.

The time commitment is likely to be about 25 days per annum to include four board meetings, two strategic away days, attendance at key strategic group meetings and conferences.
