About Malcolm

Malcolm is a contract management and programme and project management professional.  His early career was in British Army Logistics, rising through the ranks from private soldier to Lieutenant Colonel and gaining extensive strategic procurement, contract management and leadership skills along the way.  In the dozen or so years since leaving the Army, Malcolm has drawn on those skills and expertise, first as a commercial practitioner and latterly as a consultant. He has carried out several interim Director/Head of Service level roles and delivered procurement and contract management training in the public and private sectors.  He specialises in delivering practical, compliant, procurement and contract management solutions.

Recent Assignments

Malcolm’s recent work has encompassed the delivery of strategic procurement and contract management solutions for a London Borough ALMO, a South London private social housing provider and an Edinburgh-based social housing and care organisation.  In London, Malcolm’s work included establishing a procurement and contract Management capability – from scratch – and the design, implementation, and delivery of a programme of commercial training and education for the whole social housing organisation (from the Board down).

Background

After having worked for a couple of London-based procurement consultancies, Malcolm established his own limited company in 2022 and joined Altair as an Associate Director in December 2023. His qualifications and professional memberships include:

Fun Facts

Malcolm is a recent convert to Motor-homing.  In between work commitments, Malcolm has just started on a long journey with his wife Lisa and Spanish rescue dog, Bella, to bag a big handful of the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
